I can not believe you got the Eye on that one. Well done, sirrah!

Also, “I’m just going to go to the castle and see what happens” is the quote du jour and the true spirit of Spelunky. 🙂

(…the true spirit of Spelunky didn’t make the mothership any kinder to me)

Another thing – Tom, I was wondering, what tool do you use to grab the screen shots you use as custom thumbnails for your Youtube videos?

  4. My word! That was the most incredible piece of spelunkmanship I’ve ever seen, getting that eye. I only had the one bomb and I wasn’t brave enough to try the mystery box, so I had no chance.

  5. Periwinkle says:

Around 6:00, you wonder what happens when a Spider drops onto a Powerder Box.

According to Ashly Burch’s video at 4:50, nothing happens. Amazing.

  6. I died trying to get to that key. It was ridiculous.

Having watched other runs for the day, I knew there were almost no bombs to be had and winced when you reasonably spent that first bomb for money. But then, something miraculous happened – your Spelunky sense kicked in, overrode the patented Tom Francis loot lust and held you back from spending even one more. The subconscious is a powerful thing.

And the parachute was still dumb, sad to say – it kicked in as you were deliberately speeding down towards an enemy’s head for a safe landing.

I made a wee gif of some of the explorers tackling the same challenge. Makes for interesting viewing.
When I say wee i mean 17 MB so let it load. I made it in a very lofi way and the file size got a little out of hand.
